Gizmodo Media’s art department has an incredible ability to enhance the reporting of our newsroom through their artwork, capturing the essence of a story in a single illustration. This year the team had several pieces accepted into the Society of Illustrators annual exhibition, the premier showcase for illustrators and animators!
Angelica Alzona’s illustration for the Gizmodo story ‘Trump’s War on Climate Science Is a War on the Poor and People of Color’ (see above) was accepted and was awarded a silver medal.
Gizmodo Media’s Art Director Jim Cooke had two pieces accepted to this year’s exhibition: the first was a piece he created for the Jezebel story ‘A Helpful Woman’s Guide to Upgrading Your Entire Life With Homemade Marijuana Gummi Bears’ (see above) and the other was for an illustration he did for Data & Society, a non-profit science institution.
Every year the exhibition features over 400 pieces of the most outstanding works created throughout each year. The exhibition is open to artists worldwide, thousands of entries are considered by a jury of professionals, which include renowned illustrators, art directors and designers.
