The Root (@TheRoot)—the premier news, opinion and culture site for African-American influencers—is now accepting nominations for The Root 100.
Every year The Root pays tribute to black innovators, leaders and change agents with The Root 100, a list of the most influential African Americans, ages 25 to 45.
The Root is asking its readers to help shape the list by nominating people that represent 2017’s best and brightest in the fields of social justice, politics, entertainment, sports, media, the arts, science, technology and business.
“Every year The Root 100 gives us the opportunity to put a spotlight on extraordinary individuals who exemplify the causes of the black community,” said Danielle Belton, The Root’s Managing Editor. “Our goal is to recognize inspirational figures who work tirelessly to change our world for the better—from the educators who are shaping the minds of the next generation to entrepreneurs and social justice activists—as well as the celebrities, athletes and political figures who have used the power of their platforms to have an positive impact.”
Over the next few months, The Root staff will collect nominations with the full list being released later this year. See the 2016 list topped by Beyonce, Lebron James, and Jesse Williams here and 2015 list here.
